What is the process for completing the Border Basin solar project?

FAQ

Border Basin solar has been under development in its research and preparation stages since 2018. There are three main milestones for the energization of the Project in 2023:

  1. PJM Large Generator Interconnection Agreement: Border Basin submitted its application for interconnection to the PJM interconnect in 2018. PJM and AEP have been studying the electrical engineering of the Project which will culminate in the Project’s LGIA.

  2. Ohio Power Siting Board Certificate: Border Basin will go through the same OPSB permitting process that is required for any type of power plant sited in Ohio greater than 50 MW. The Project is submitting its application to the OPSB in June 2021.

  3. Power Purchase Agreement: The Project is engaged with load-serving entities intending to purchase the Project’s energy products under market-based, long-term contracts.
